How could they have maintained their "the gods are a sham! also, they eat people" thing, and not racefailed all over the place?
They could have chosen only gods from defunct (well, mostly defunct -- the neo-pagans do worship Mercury, Odin, et al, based on their tradition, so they're probably pissed as well) pantheons, instead of, you know, gods from the *third* largest religion in the WORLD. :facepalm:
Or they could have made it obvious that some gods eat people/accept human sacrifice, and some think it's repulsive.
Point me to some fiction where this was done really well.
