Yuletide 2008: Dear Santa
Dear Santa,
This is my second year participating in Yuletide and I'm terribly excited about getting my assignment. I'm sure you are too. Don't worry too much about pleasing me. I'm easy. *g* No matter what you write, I will be happy, because when it comes down to it, I just want more fic in my fandoms. More importantly, I want you to have fun with your assignment, so if my prompts aren't working for you, feel free to take whatever direction you need, to write a story you're proud of.
I've indicated some preferences for each fandom, but don't feel bound by them. I read gen, het, femslash and slash. Humor, drama, tragedy and romance. I like character pieces, speculative fic and plotty stuff. I like happy, unhappy, closed and open endings. Anything goes, really.
General likes: witty dialog, tragedy, twisty plots, Themes, humor, goofball and otherwise, unexpected romance, friendship, found families, deep characterization, great use of language, whether simple, ornate or experimental
General dislikes: mpreg, soul bonds
Fandom: The Fast and The Furious
Characters: Letty, Mia Toretto
Prompt: Mia and Letty aren't exactly sisters.
I prefer femslash or gen, but het and slash are great too. In the film, Mia and Letty are most important through their relationships to the male characters. I want to know what their relationship to each other is like.
Fandom: Avengers and The New Avengers (comic)
Characters: Carol Danvers, Janet van Dyne, Jennifer Walters, Wanda Maximoff
Prompt: Girl talk after the House of M.
Since I'm asking for a post HoM story, Wanda doesn't actually have to be present. :) Anyway, I feel like there's a gap between Disassembled, HoM and the start of the New Avengers. One that a lot of classic avengers fell into. We don't know much about how these characters dealt with the aftermath of Bendis shredding their lives. I'd love to see that explored. If that doesn't strike your fancy, anything with these four is fine.
Fandom: CJ Cherryh - Fortress series
Characters: Cevulirn, Sovrag, Tristen, Umanon
Prompt: The lords of the South celebrate.
Intoxicated politicking would be a bonus. I prefer gen in this fandom, and an emphasis on friendship, camaraderie, history and politics. I love the characters, the setting and the ideas that underwrite the series. That said, I would not be averse to romance, and obviously not to comedy. Tristen is my favourite character in the series, and I loved his interactions with the Southern lords. Both when Cefwyn was in presence, and when Tristen was installed as Amefel.
Fandom: Libba Bray - A Great and Terrible Beauty
Characters: Felicity Worthington, Gemma Doyle, Kartik, Pippa
I would love Fee/Pippa, Gemma/Kartik but anything with these four is fine.
I like all the books, so any timeframe is fine. I also equally love the magical and realistic settings. The only thing that would make unhappy would be lots of anachronisms.
