Ok, you know what would be a cool fic fest?

The Write What You Don't Fest

You sign up for a team: gen, het, femslash, slash.

You submit prompts for whatever you signed up as (ex. slashers submit slash prompts).

Then the dice is rolled, and the four teams switch up. Gen writes femslash. Slash writes het. Het writes gen. Femslash writes slash. (Or whatever).

Your team is there to help you make it to the finish line. You're each others cheerleaders.

Does this fest exist? If not, who else thinks it would be fun?

I love this idea. I really do. Though you might rearrange by the numbers, so gen and femmeslash get a fair shake. Like slashers write femmeslah, het writes gen, and so forth.

What do you do if you write all four? Sign up to write slash/femslash/gen for a character you usually write het about, maybe (or some other permutation of the above, with genres altered as needed)?

edit: As I recall, there was a "slashers write het" challenge years ago in HP fandom, bu tit was predicated along the lines of "slashers are just better all around than those dumb het writers, so let's show them how it's done" and produced some "ew, girlcooties" not-that-great het along with some good stuff.
