Since yesterday was my birthday...

... I feel comfortable demanding this of you. I would like Halloween ficlets. 100 - 1000 words for October 31, posted to your lj, with a link here, so we can all find them. From the lists below, pick a theme or motif, three words to use, and three words to exclude. You have five days to write. Go!

13 Themes and Motifs
I've made these as open-ended as possible.

- transformation
- loss and grief
- masks
- trickery
- sublime/banal
- spirituality
- age and decay
- twilight
- locks
- vision
- harvest
- the colour orange
- spoilage

30 Words to use
Use them however you like, as many times as you like, but use three of them. Change the tense and pluralize as necessary.

Bone, bubble, wings, fur, crunch, candy, pale, veil, caramel, chill, web, sear, circle, dog, wither, saccharine, double, nest, crawl, broom, yew, nail, fragile, tease, shiver, crackle, needle, sway, doorbell, escape.

30 Words to exclude
You must choose three words from this list that you will not use in your ficlet.

Pumpkin, costume, treat, leaf, autumn/fall, death, ghost, monster, party, hide, mystery, witch, vampire, night, dark, scare, fear, eye, pagan, ritual, tradition, holiday, movie, egg, knife, grave, crypt, story, smoke, magic.

Happy burfday!

Don't think this is quite what you meant, but.... Words exceed your requirements, but what the heck -- I wrote it for the challenge, there it is.
