dude, what a letdown

You know what sucks?

After a lifetime of deprivation, you settle into finally taking in one of the classics - you've got Queen lined up in your mental playlist, ready to fucking rock Moby Dick* like it has never been before, goddamn! - and then... it just blows. You're left wondering about those millions of clearly wrong people. Just how did they get it so completely and thoroughly wrong?

What's the biggest 'classic' letdown you've experienced? (Movies, books, comics, music, whatever).

* Still haven't read Moby Dick, although it is on my to-read list.

Ana Karenjina. Lord almighty. It's a classic why, again?
