quick post then back to work...
Sometimes fandom, I just do not get you. It wasn't a good movie, no, but how is there NO FIC for Takers?
Zoe doesn't get what the HELL is up with that either.
"OMG SOMEONE WROTE TAKERS FIC? I'M SO HAPPY." "ME TOO BABY."
You want to make Zoe happy, don't you?
Yeah, I thought so.
Crime pays... in pretty.
Ok yes, Chris Brown factor. I had to pretend he was someone else to enjoy his scenes. :/

I DON'T UNDERSTAND. Fandom, there are so many hot people here I don't even know where to look next because I'm so thoroughly spoilt for choice, and I know that we as a collective are totally shallow enough to jump all over this! WHY AREN'T YOU ON THIS ALREADY?
Do we just not get to have porn if there are not enough white boys? That is completely uncool, fandom. Unwritten porn is unwritten happiness.no subject
YES. I'm thinking I need to cajole some people into doing ficlets with me. Maybe we can drum up some interest.

And no, not great. But I appreciated its commitment to its genre. And love pretty much everyone in the cast who isn't CB. And I wish I hadn't noticed his name in the credits under exec producer, bc now I don't want to contribute to his empire of rape by buying it.
Shockingly, I especially appreciated Paul Walker. I choose to believe that his chaacter and Idris Elba's found a country with warm beaches and no exxtradition treaty and sexed each other up for the rest of their days.

I think a few more rounds with the script would have improved Takers immeasurably. There's loads of potential in it, kind of making it perfect for fic. Hints instead of solid backstory, complicated relationships, morally grey everything.

Right?
The crew was clearly divided in two: the hotel 'family' consisting of the two brothers, Lily(Saldana) and AJ(Christenson), and then Gordon(Elba) and John(Walker), who have a partnership vibe. Gordon makes the decisions, with John as his de facto second in command and go to guy for dark work. Then there's Ghost(TI), who it seems was Gordon's old partner, the guy who helped put the crew together, starting with John, who was then a car thief (I choose to believe it was some Gone In 60 Seconds shit).
The crew as a whole has a quasi-familial relationship, and Ghost seems disdainful of this--either because it's not how it was when he was around, or because he feels ~left out. And did I detect some resentment/respect for John who's taken his place, and who he understands very very well?
Um. Will stop babbling now... clearly I've been thinking about this a lot.

I love the found family thing that the crew has, but of course they are ripping off one of my favourite movies of all time with a similar "the secret hearts of bad guys" thing (Heat). I would have liked to have seen more about why Ghost was so damn resentful (above and over the Lily thing) but your explanation makes sense. You can babble! I have been improving the script in my head all day.
And also possibly writing Gordon/John slash. In my head. Possibly. You definitely get the sense that they had something
sexyseparate from the rest of the crew that the guys just kind of recognise and don't question. They feel like mom and dad, almost.no subject
