On spoilers.

Vague spoilers are spoilers.

Personal reactions are spoilers.

Hints and squeeing are spoilers.

Get a clue. Use a cut tag.

I did, I'm a good girl. Do I get a cookie?

Wait, so if I went:

"Squeeeee!
[generic cut tag]
[end of visible post]"

You would consider that a spoiler? I'm honestly curious here.

I can't speak for MHC (though we have very similar spoiler-policies which I think were developed in the spoiler-militant Buffy fandom) but I would, same if you went 'Waaaah!'

The theory behind this is that the better I know you, the more likely I am to be able to figure out why you would be squeeing (or wahing).

For example, what, say, Cedar would squee over and what McTabby would squee over are likely to be very different things. Same thing applies to wahing, of course.

Hence why personal reaction, however vague, can be considered spoilers. It might seem silly but for some of us, it's a thing. A big, annoying thing that seems obvious. *grins*

Guess we'll agree to disagree.

Well, no offense meant to you or MHC or anyone sharing your opinion, 'cause you're welcome to have it, but for a nearly 900-page book written by an author who we all know just loves to build up strange little seemingly throwaway details and toss wrenches into reader perspectives at least five times an installment, it really doesn't seem like an only marginally descriptive inarticulate noise like "Squeeee!" or "Waaaaah!" really makes much of a difference, whether or not one knows the speaker. I mean, I've known both Cedar and McTabby (to take your examples) for a decent while by internet standards, and I think I have a pretty good idea of their Potterian tastes, but there are many things that could make either one squee or waaah.

I completely agree that anything remotely specific about the books should be cut-tagged, but if even an interjection bothers you, I would suggest just staying away from livejournal until you can get your hands on the book, or if that will take awhile, until the fuss has blown over a bit. Or whatever, at your discretion. If it's too late for this book, maybe you should keep that in mind for the next one? Because frankly, I don't think either of you can prevent the squeeage from seeping onto your uncut friendslist.

In any case, I got out all my (non-spoilery, just hyperactive ;)) inarticulate noises out already, and I will lj-cut the articulate stuff.

So goddamned sick of it....

I just erase all the entries from SSlash list. Kids under the age of 12 keep secrets better.
Jeeze.

On a completely unrelated note

You have an icon with Vila Restal in it.

If you have any with Avon, I will envy you for life

[snickers] You know, people are going to start thinking that we're legion minding or something. First you bitch about people not using cut tags, then I scream about it, and then you calmly, quietly, most Slytherinly point out that cut tags are good thing. I guess it's my turn again?

'm a sick, sick little girl.
