Epistle
Days pass, quick as spring rains; slow as thick syrup in Montana - morning syrup you mix in with fruit, with sharp, surgical accuracy, or did.
That smirk - only yours - curls up half your mouth and you lick your lips, without thinking to do so. You clutch the spoon firmly in your fist, still with a hint of worry.
You don’t want to drop it.
You look up, cautious, only waiting for a half-familiar clump-clump down the stairs.
My skin grows folds and small, odd hollows. This morning I thought, I am hiding in my own skin.
I watch you wait.
