captain america is riding a pony
"Look! Up in the sky!"
Mike looked. In New York it was always worth it. A man was riding a flying horse, chasing after a squad of jetpack equipped Hydra agents. "Is that... why is the Black Knight wearing the stars and stripes?"
"That's not the Black Knight," Icky said, already pulling out his iPhone.
"Holy shit! Captain America is riding a pony."
"A flying pony, to be precise," Icky said. "Hey, you're glowing, buddy."
"Byline. Above the fold."
The Hydra agents opened fire, over their shoulders. Cap had his shield and the pony had armor--red and gold armor--but no one else did. A stray energy bolt hit a lightpost and it went down in a shower of sparks. Joggers and picnickers went running in every direction. Mike though, grabbed Icky's arm and pushed him forward.
"Follow that pony."
"You are aware that this is our day off."
"You wanted to go for a run. I want to get off the city desk. We're multitasking."
"Fucking New York. Hey look, Iron Man!"
"I love this city," Mike said.
Iron Man glided into the dogfight, taking two Hydra agents out in his first pass. The armor made those Hydra jetpacks look like Model T, it's maneuverability almost on par with natural fliers. He neatly barrel rolled out of Cap's way-- out of the way of Cap and that armored pony (horse? whatever), whose wings were obviously synthetic, painted gleaming red and gold. As one, the pony air-trampled the jetpack right off a Hydra agent's back, and Cap threw his shield. One-two-three ricochets and the last agents were falling into Iron Man's arms.
"Iron Pony?"
"That's terrible, Mike."
"Iron Horse."
"Yeah, no. You're not allowed to touch headlines. What makes you think they'll let you name a superhero?"
"Shut up and take pictures."
"Yeah," Icky said, grinning as the pony swooped in towards Iron Man, and then hovered in place. Jet horseshoes? Cap and Iron Man high-fived, the horse freaking whinnied, and Mike? Mike was so getting off the city desk.
"Tell me you got a picture."
Yeah, I don't know. Kind of for
