Troy: Buzuh?

THEY KILLED AGAMEMNON!

THEY KILLED AGAMEMNON!

WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK?

Also, they made Briseis a royal cousin and Helen some pretty thing Menelaus picked up and dragged to Sparta as a trophy. And... and... Patroclus was never Achilles' cousin. Briseis certainly wasn't the reason that Achilles refused to fight - everybody knows the whiny bitch didn't want to fight until Agamemnon begged him.

But above and beyond the rest: why did the Trojan War take place in the space of like, two months?

Buzuh?

Aeneas?

Though - how much did I love Odysseus?

Man, I knew all those changes happened before I saw the movie today. I think that helped to make it less bad.

They killed Agammemnon? In *Troy*? Sheesh.

Doesn't mean I'm not going to go see the movie (I've been killing myself with spoilers so as not to have hysterics when I finally see the film). Personally, I'm most annoyed that the gods have been ousted from the story, but...we shall see.

But...Aeneas *is* in the Iliad, of course. He's mentioned a few times. Or...did your "Aeneas?" comment mean "where was he?"

Except that he didn't die. When the hell did he die? =;

His wife Clytemnestra and her lover Aigisthos do 'im in; the events are related in Aeschylus' Agamemnon, and are heard about second-hand in the Odyssey. At least we know now that Petersen won't be slaughtering Greek tragedy any time soon. *facepalmdie*

Heh, I meant in the movie.

*mumbles foolishly* Heh. Sorry ^^;;

In the movie, Briseis nails him in the neck with a dagger she's been hiding on her. Agamemnon falls victim to the Evil Overlord bad habit of telling her exactly what he's going to do to her, and she takes advantage of it.

RIGHT! *facepalm* How did I forget about that part? I was grumbling at everyone because I thought only two hairy guys died and they had all mistaken the nondescript Trojan one for Agamemnon.

Anyway, I do not mourn the loss of the hairy.
