Your thoughts on yaoi

Although I read (and sometimes write) slash, I've never really considered slash to be an important part of my fannish identity. I'm as likely to fall for a het ship, or femslash ship, as a slash ship, and it's even more likely for me to not ship much of anything at all. And although I have many friends in the slash community, I don't consider it to be my fannish home base.

So what makes a slasher? Are you a slasher? Why do you consider yourself to be (or not to be) a slasher?

Did he have his powers? It takes a lot for me to rationalized super-powered individuals turning to prostitution. That stripper!Emma Frost is canon just irks me to no end - why would she need to dance for men at all? She could have just talked people into giving her their wallets. *grumble*

Totally. And it would only increase his appeal with people when he left that life behind. He'd be like the male Diablo Cody.

Ha! I'd so read his bio.

No, he didn't. It was a I-need-to-have-sex-with-men-to-take-care-of-Aunt-May deal (men in question being Cap and Iron Man).

That stripper!Emma thing sounds crappy. I can KIND OF deal with Catwoman being an ex-prostitute, given her horrible origin in general, but ... eh, I haven't actually read Year One yet and Frank Miller's Daredevil/Elektra stories made me angry enough.
