comments on Star Wars Episode III (from YouTube!)
So I never saw Star Wars Episode III. Episode I was pretty terrible outside of the Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon and lightsabre fights. Episode II was a nightmare I've managed to suppress, but for the Obi-Wan and the lightsabre fights. (Are you getting the impression that I'm here for the lightsabres and the Awesome Wan Kenobi? Because yeah, pretty much the case). Anyway, when Episode III came around, promising yet more wooden Anawangst, I gave it a pass.
I've been watching clips of it on YouTube and have come to realize that I absolutely, without a shadow of a doubt, made the right choice. *wince* Oh, George. Why do they let you off the ranch? And honestly, poor, poor Ewan, having nothing but green screen and Hayden Christensen to work with. Tragedy.
Because I can't be bothered to write up a proper entry about this travesty, some comments on the film, culled from YouTube. Brace yourselves people!
"Darth Plagueis created Anakin by an experiment using a human (Anakins mother). The reason of Darth Plagueis of creating Anakin was to create the most powerfull Sith of all times (wich I think he did it). Anakin is not the Jedi of the profecy that will establish peace, Anakin has the destiny of become a Sith. The Jedi of the profecy would neither be Luke Skywalker even if he becamed the most powerful Jedi of all times, it would be his very VERY far grandson, Cade Skywalker."
"Sidious tells Vader, Padme is killer for him because Sidious knows if Vader find out Padme is still alive Vader have a reason to return tothe light side because Padme is the reason o Vader to keep something good inside of him because the Emperor dont destroy the all good inside of Vader, Vader have inside of him as still good the empero dont take the all good inside of him"
Amazingly, the part that's bothering me the most is Darth Plagueis. DARTH PLAGUEIS. Jesus Christ, George Lucas! What the eff is wrong with you, man? *flail*

I kinda like the concept of the character, but I really doubt that stuff about him creating Anakin is canon. :p

"With this realization, Qymaen jai Sheelal cast off his old identity, adopting a name more appropriate to a being destined to grieve forever, and, even more terribly, who was determined that he would not do so alone. He would be General Grievous, as well as heart-broken, for the rest of his life."
*bashes head on desk*

Although I did read a handful of ST tie-ins, way back in the day.

The non-Darth Lords have some cool names, though. Qel-Droma and Exar Kun, Marka Ragnos and Tulak Hord... even Ajunta Pall has a fun sort of ring to it, though I think that may be more that I like the way the KotOR voice actors say it than that the word itself is anything other than silly.

::is reminded why she doesn't read LEGACY::
The prequels were all brain-searingly awful, but I actually thought III was the most tolerable of the bunch. Christensen isn't the most fun to watch, but he's parsecs ahead of A Precocious Blonde Moppet. Jar-Jar was actually used, dare I say it, *well.* Mace Windu was cool as hell, and not even solely by virtue of being Samuel L Jackson.
Also, any film that gives Natalie Portman that much screentime is at least worth something with the sound off. ^^

Worth watching all the way through, lo these many years later?

In the second film, fighting in that arena, I thought wow, yes, this is the woman who gave us Leia!
And then came the third film.

Anakin's mom, for me, was their biggest WTF moment. Virgin birth? please.... That was a truly silly origin. But it was in I, which was the bottom of the six, at least from my point of view. There was no mention at all of Plageous having his sticky way with her in any sense of the word in III. Plageous *is* mentioned when Palpatine is waxing philisophical abit to Anakin, but never connected in any way to Padme. It's the only time he's ever brought up.
If you look at the universe from strictly the movies' point-of-view, Anakin is very much the Jedi of the prophecy. If you take the expanded view though, let's face it. Lucas is going to be milking that Star Wars cow until the teats fall off in his hands. So there never will be an elimination of the Sith, just the unique Skywalker brand of Sith-B-Gon.

I have no idea where you read this part, it's utter horsecrap. There's no harm in actuially watching the movie at least once, then making a judgement on it. It's not going to swallow your soul or anything. Chew on it a little maybe, but not swallow.
