Broken Social Scene: Toronto indie-rock band with a hint of a Sigur Ros vibe. The songs run a little long and don't follow the pop format, so if you can't stand a little oddness (the good kind), this isn't the band for you.
Must have track - Can't choose, get them all. *g*

The Mars Volta: Half of the defunct At The Drive In (the other half being Sparta). They're a little punk, a little metal and they just rock. The vocals are sometimes harsh and thin, but always passionate.
Must have track - Concertina.

Cat Power: gorgeous smoky vocals over stripped down guitar. The soul of blues with a pop-rock package. Some folk influences, I suspect.
Must have track - Wonderwall

Queen Adreena: hard girl!rock that wails. As [livejournal.com profile] faith_accompli once said, it makes you feel like something's drilling into your head - in a good way.
Must have track - Jolene

Switchblade Symphony: eerie girl!rock the creeps up your spine.
Must have track - Invisible

Mia Sheard: Toronto indie singer/songwriter that's a little ironic, a little fun, always cool.
Must have track - Cover Girl

Fischerspooner: think Ladytron and Electroclash, but boys. Analog synths and camp - what more does one need?
Must have track - Emerge

The new single from Jane's Addiction, Just Because is, to quote a great movie, incendiary. It's just fucking great. I'm also liking Christina Aguilera's new single, Can't Hold Us Down, for its anthem-y sensibility. I could go on, but I'm quite tired and therefore stupid.
